We’ve had another lovely Carers Week this year helping to put carers on the map.
On Tuesday we welcomed Victoria and Stuart, from Cumberland Council’s OT and ROVI teams, to the office to for an informative and interesting session about how they can support unpaid carers.
On Wednesday we enjoyed a relaxing and restoring sound bath yesterday led by Simone Walters, who runs our regular carer relaxation sessions.
Everyone was soothed by the vibrational resonance of Tibetan Bowls, Crystal singing bowls, Hangpan drum and windchimes.
Simone explained that sound vibrations have a pretty powerful effect on our minds and bodies. Research shows us that sound healing can slow down our brain waves and put our bodies in a very relaxed, dreamlike state.
Both sessions were followed by a cuppa, a chat and more biscuits than we want to admit to!
Thank you to everyone who came and for the lovely feedback from our carers.
“Thank you all for a wonderful relaxing session”
We’re not ending our celebrations yet! Next week we have invited unpaid carers to join us at three Afternoon Tea’s across West Cumbria. Keep an eye out for the pics in the July Newsletter.
Don’t forget that your local carers organisation can offer support all year round! See all the ways you can get in touch here – we are available 9-5 Monday to Thursday and 9-4.30 on a Friday.
