Volunteer Search

Could you give a couple of hours a week to help unpaid carers in your community?


We are actively recruiting for the following volunteer roles:



Our volunteer sitters provide up to six (two hour) visits and sits with the cared for (provided there are no practical/personal care needs), enabling the Carer to have a valuable break, with peace of mind that the person they care for is safely looked after.


Benefits Support

Volunteering in this role adds value to the vital work of the Benefits Support Worker by establishing positive relationships with clients and external organisations and collating outcome information in relation to benefit applications made by service users.


Volunteer counsellors provide one-to-one counselling support to Carers who feel themselves in need of this specialist form of therapy as a result of their caring role. 


​Who are we?


Carer Support West Cumbria aims to support and improve the quality of life of Carers in West Cumbria. A carer is someone who looks after a family member, relative, friend or neighbour who could not manage without their help.


Volunteers are a valued and essential part of our service, all our volunteer roles are designed to support carers health and wellbeing and to prevent social isolation to enable them to continue in their caring role.


Why volunteer with us?


As a volunteer, you will be a valued and vital member of our organisation. You don’t need any special skills or experience as you will receive free training to ensure you are prepared before you begin volunteering. You will also be given on-going support and training to make sure you are fully supported and confident in your role.


It's well recognised and understood that volunteer services are of great benefit to those receiving the service but it can also provide benefits to the volunteer too.


 It has been found to, amongst other things, reduce stress, combat depression and bring some fun and fulfilment to your life.


The time you give will help to make a big difference to the lives of individuals.
